Admission Policies

All applicants for admission to the Institute of Medicine are screened by an Admissions Committee. After careful evaluation of all admission requirements, the committee recommends applicants who pass the admission criteria of the school and are eligible for enrolment.

Application Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Graduates of a Bachelor's Degree in Arts or science
  2. In addition to the Bachelor's Degree, the applicant must have earned the minimum number of credits on the following subjects namely:

Chemistry.......................................................10 Units
Biology...........................................................15 Units
Mathematics.....................................................9 Units
Physics.............................................................5 Units
Social Sciences...............................................12 Units

  1. Must have finished their Bachelor's degree and all the required subjects listed in item #2 at the end of the school year preceding the year of application.
  2. Only applicants who have taken the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) as required by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) shall be considered for admission. The Admissions Committee will stipulate the acceptable cu-off score.

Non-eligible Applicants:

  1. Those with more than 12 units of failures specially major subjects.
  2. Those who are 35 years old and above.
  3. Those with advanced credits in any medical school/transferee.
  4. Those convicted of any crime.

General Instructions for Applicants:

  1. The deadline for submission of application requirements is on December.
  2. All announcements (like admission interviews, etc) shall be posted at the bulletin board, first floor lobby, Institute of Medicine.
  3. The schedule of interview shall be posted, and applicants are expected to report on the scheduled date and time.
  4. Admitted applicants can only enroll after passing the complete physical examination.
  5. Direct all inquiries to the Chairman of the Admission Committee, Rm 404 FEU -NRMF, Institute of Medicine.

  2. Applicants must accomplish and submit all the requirements personally. Agent's or applicant's representative will not be entertained.
  3. Indicate your application number in all correspondence and communications.
  4. Applicants should always bring Identification Card when transacting any business with the Medical Foundation.

Application Procedure:

  1. Secure list of requirements at room UG10, Inst of Med. Bldg.
  2. Pay application and processing fee at the RCBC Bank Marian Bldg.
  3. Present receipt to secure Information Sheet at UG10
  4. Return duly-filled information sheet to secure Application Form at UG10
  5. Return duly-filled Application Form together with the:
  1. The Official Transcript of Record or Scholastic Record plus two (2) xerox copies containing the degree obtained from the school last attended,
  2. Authenticated copy of college diploma or certificate of graduation,
  3. Xerox copy of NMAT certificate,
  4. Two (2) certifications of good moral character issued by the applicant's former teacher in the preparatory course,
  5. Birth Certificate (certified true copy) from the National Statistics Office,
  6. Marriage certificate, if married,
  7. Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) for foreign students,
  8. Three (3) photographs (2x2) taken within the last month of application. Print applicant's name at the back, family name first,
  9. Two (2) self-addressed envelopes with P10.00 stamp.
  10. Community Tax Certificate No., date and place of issue,
  11. One big brown envelope

Foreign Applicants

The Institute of Medicine is open to a limited number of foreign students. Deadline for submission of application requirements is December. Foreign applicants are required to take the NMAT.

Enrollment Requirements

Applicants selected for admission are notified of their acceptance and are required to report within specific period of time.

Foreign school graduates are required to give a "GOODWILL" fee of $6,000.00

Faculty

Our two hundred and ninety clinical and academic teaching staff are highly competent in their fields of specialty.

Facilities

All lecture and laboratory rooms are air-conditioned equipped with modern audio-visual equipments.

On the fifth floor adjoining the hospital and the medical school, the Ricardo L. Alfonso Hall is situated. Conferences and other hospital and school activities are held in this hall which has a capacity of 500 persons and is fully air-conditioned.
